Ljubljana goes nuts for good coffee!

Alex Niño Ruiz, a specialty coffee enthusiast from Colombia, set out on a mission. He wanted to bring specialty coffee closer to casual coffee drinkers in Ljubljana. As he is also the owner of Črno Zrno and Rafinerija Cukrarna, he also wanted to connect and reinforce the local specialty coffee community.

There is two things that are good about specialty coffee. One, specialty coffee businesses support smaller farmers, thus does not exploit the people behind coffee like big companies do. Gotta love that. Additionally, the quality is immensely better — aroma, flavour complexity, variations based on the origin, ... Preparing specialty coffee is an art form on its own, exploring many flavours, complexities and incredibly precise preparation methods. With an aim to capture that, we went in a colourful, illustrative direction.

With designing and illustrating the map for tourists (and locals), we brought 10 best specialty coffee places in Ljubljana closer to people who consume coffee casually.
The illustrations on the first page express the character of each individual café, and locates them on the map. On the back, we can read more about each café’s story.
